I love manuka honey, chia seeds and quinoa!

Recently had a little bit of health crazy.
Let's see what is my usual health routine as a working mum.
I got to stay active, if not gonna die from my office-bound job.

Health Routine

My exercise routine!
Do Yoga 2 or 3 times a week
Usually yoga during lunch time or weekend

Carry baby around the neighborhood, well this counts for cardio exercise, right?<-- count="" div="" for="" got="" right="" something="" that="" to="">

Health food I tend to eat every day
  1. Dong Chong Xia Chao 冬蟲夏草
  2. Royal Jelly Supplement
  3. Manuka Honey UMF

Cordyceps

"Dong Chong Xia Chao", or rather "Cordyceps" or otherwise known as the Mysterious Caterpillar Fungus. It is a caterpillar that dies when fungus attacks it and eat it from within, then it died as a fungi body. This is actually extremely expensive.
My hubby bought this regularly in powdered form, he got it from those caterpillar farms, where they harvest cordyceps, if not the wild version is about 10 times as expensive.

Royal Jelly from bees

Royal Jelly is actually a honey type of supplement that bees make for their queen bees. It is this feeding of this supplement that enables that bee to become the Queen Bee and lay eggs daily. Actually probably lay hundreds and thousands of little bees daily.
So there are a lot of reviews where the royal jelly is good for us.
I am not a big fan though. I just eat if my hubby brought this home.

Manuka honey

This is the supplement I will buy regularly for my baby and me (Note: You can only let babies above the age of 1 to eat honey. Babies below age 1 has not developed a proper immune system yet and may die from eating honey)

I buy only manuka honey that has the UMF endorsement from the New Zealand Government.
This is important because most of the manuka honey out there are fake.
People pay tons of money to buy normal honey that is labeled falsely as "manuka honey"

Only buy those with UMF logo.

Manuka honey is great for us because of its a monofloral honey from the manuka bush, which contains a large number of antibacterial components, which they called MG (or a longer name, I dunno how to spell)
Anyway, a great number of reviews can be found online but this is the blog that I realized its a sincere explanation of manuka honey: he ate and tried more than 10 brands of manuka honey in Singapore!

introducing jevity glucerna ensure delivery in Singapore

Singapore is growing old and with more and more elderly.
and we all have parents, or even grandparents to take care of.

for the past few years, i have to order wheelchair, ramps, adult diapers and adult milk feed for her.
I dread the day I have to use these for myself too. :(

Caretakers of the old

That makes people like us, the generation of caretakers.
We have to take care of our elderly because they once took care of us as kids.
So I guess it's our turn to be grateful and help out.

one of the horrible thing being a caretaker is that it is really difficult to shop for and carry the bulky items from the shop to our homes.
and of course, the tedious effort to elderly-proof the home for old folks.

Heavy and bulk adult diapers or milk cartons

It's not just the wheelchairs or commodes that are bulky and troublesome to fold and carry home, you definitely need to pay for a taxi or moving services, these are quite tough to take on public transport.

It's all the nutritious milk feed like Jevity, Glucerna or Ensure Plus.
These milk feed are very heavy. If your senior citizen is drinking the powder form, where you can mix with warm water, then at least the powder form are lighter (you just have to add water at home), but the liquid form, with all the liquid included..... is really heavy.

Ensure plus is sooooo heavy.

Not shown in the above:- how heavy a carton of ensure plus can be.

And Tena adult diapers and etc, they are not heavy, but definitely bulky and super inconvenience to tug along from the retail shops all the way home...
And you definitely want to buy more than a carton, because it's not like a fun trip to go shopping for adult diapers on a daily or weekly basis right?

Adult diapers, Ensure milk or Glucerna Jevity delivered to your home

Anyway guess where did i find to buy all these medical and health care products?

Surprise. there is a local start up that does delivery.. for free!
Glad to be supporting fellow Singaporeans!
yeah! free delivery, as long as you hit $150 per cart.
which is really not that difficult since a lot of these milk and diapers are quite expensive.

Good news is these are cheaper at SeniorCare.com.sg too.
I saved a fair bit of money since their prices are cheaper than retail shops and competitors, and its no longer a hassle dragging these items back home too.....

Unfortunately, they do not accept cash on delivery, but I usually pay via bank transfer to their DBS bank account in Singapore, so its quite hassle-free

I even bought blood pressure monitors from them too, for myself to check on my blood pressure. its quite nice that they carry most of the models from Omron blood pressure devices.
These supplements are cheaper at there too, made in USA quality so you don't have to worry.

Chew Chor Meng is old too

You know, whenever I buy glucerna now, i feel sad too thinking about Chew Chor Meng.
He was TV idol last time, young and cute.
Now he is the spokesperson for Glucerna..... a milk product for the elderly (or at least the middle aged adult)

and have you seen the recent TV dramas he is acting in? The scriptwriters have been kind enough to incorporate wheelchair scenes for him, because he cannot stand or walk for long....

I guess both celebrities and me are growing old.
Thats the true about life.

Time and tide waits for no men (and women)

Children and babies instead of makeup and earrings

Woooo it has been more than 11 years since I last blogged.
back then I was still a young university girl learning about chemistry and, well, life and stuff.
a lot has changed since then, here I am, updating the internet and keeping a record in case I got old and forgot all about my personal history.
Chemistry was fun and stuff, but not something I would want to do for a career I guess.

This old blog was all about school and school work, nothing personal, and a little boring.
and frankly, I do not like to write.
Writing takes up energy and time.....
Plus facebook probably killed most of the bloggers out there.
much easier to write about your life with photos in Facebook than a chunky website right?

Life since NUS

anyway since 2008, I graduated from NUS, took a good job, learned and improved in the job.
It was non-related to what I had studied for, but a good job, excellent learning experience, and a decent pay grade.
A civil sector job in HDB, it allows me to interact with the public and learn on how to manage projects, how to manage people and staff.
I learned quite a fair bit, had a good boss and some great colleagues.

Quit the job, on a new job. slightly lower pay, but a better working environment. I make up the difference by working hard and smart and getting promoted as fast as I could.

Oh, yeah got attached, got married, had a baby =)

I am old now =P

Children topic like toddler development interest me now

Instead of shopping for earrings and makeup brushes, I am more interested in reading a blogpost on how magnetic blocks help in child's development. Interesting isn't it :)

awww the burdens of being a working mother.
now I am quite experience in milk bottles, diapers, nursing methods, babies behavior, toddlers play time. Oh my god. so much more to learn as my child grows up.

now that I am happily married, with a great hubby and a great son. what's next?
Oooooo another kid. because I think 2 is perfect. :D
probably in 9 more months, I think?

what's there now to do in life? probably planning for retirement, prepare enough to save for me after paying for all the expensive stuff related to childbirth and child-rearing.
it is almost halfway to my adult livelihood =)

should I upgrade and get another job?
should I start a sideline?
should I start documenting my life?

or maybe I should do some simple projects to improve my passive income and retirement portfolio. My hubby loves growing passive income, be it an extra $1 per month, he would be keen to build on, his pipeline of income.

Life growing up with baby and family

We will see.
one thing is for certain, I should really do more exercising.
More yoga for sure has been doing a lot less yoga since I give birth.
Mostly because of lack of time, but yeah.... will do more exercise.

Probably the best return on investment is exercise at this age.
Because let's be clear.... time is not on our side :)

Life is good! I am curious about what life would be in 2029.
Maybe I won't recognize myself then.
